If you are inspired by impact that is hands-on,
Over 1000 Projects
Before the Covid 19 pandemic IVS supported over 1200 projects around the world. We have grassroots partners in 80 countries and hope to support many projects in the future.
Grassroots
IVS projects are developed by our local partners after establishing an identified need.
Affordable
Volunteering shouldn’t cost a fortune. IVS projects costs start from as little as £75 for a short-term project in Britain and £205 for a short-term project abroad.

Further Information
- How Do I Apply?
First, search for projects in the SCI database. Once you see a project you like, register for the project and you will then be sent an application form. After that you will need to pay a membership and project registration fee. Once both the project and you have confirmed your attendance, you can start packing!
- How Much Do Short Term Projects Cost?
IVS standard membership: £25
IVS concession membership: £15 (Students, Unemployed, Low income)For short-term projects abroad, the registration fee is £205. For short-term projects in the UK, the registration fee is £75.
- Where Does My Money Go?
The membership fee supports the running of IVS.
The project fee covers your health insurance* for the duration of your volunteering, your accommodation and food on site and supports the SCI international network.
*excluding UK short-term projects
- What Else do I Have to Pay?
Volunteers must cover travel to/from the project, visa costs and vaccinations. Also, if required by the host organisation, volunteers must pay the extra fee. IVS can support your project costs through fundraising initiatives. Contact fundraising@ivsgb.org for more.
All volunteers must sign our Self Declaration Form and provide us with evidence of a recent criminal background check. If this is not available, you will be asked to obtain a basic disclosure certificate from Disclosure Scotland in advance of your project. The current cost is £25 made payable to Disclosure Scotland.
