    Call for volunteers to take part in an Erasmus+ Volunteering project at the Independent Journalism Centre, Moldova

    Our partner Independent Journalism Centre (IJC) in Chișinău is a non-governmental organisation that provides assistance to journalists and media institutions in the Republic of Moldova.

    About Independent Journalism Centre

    moldova journalism centreIJC sees its mission in supporting professional journalism and aims at contributing to the consolidation of a qualitative, independent and impartial press.

    IJC’s main activities lie in media law and policy, assistance and professionalisation of media, training, research and publications. IJC also hosts the Press Club, professional meetings which are organised together with the Committee for Press Freedom.

    Project details:

    Location: Chișinău, Moldova
    Duration: Flexible, for a minimum of 5 months and a maximum of 52 weeks
    Starting in: ASAP, but may be negotiable
    Program: Erasmus+ Volunteering

    The main tasks of the volunteers are the following:

    • Assist IJC staff in training programmes for journalists, in Social Media Marketing and Web Monitoring.
    • Involved in the organisation of the annual survey Ten Journalists of the Year.

    Training during the project:

    • Professional training courses will be provided by IJC’s supporting organisations throughout the duration of the volunteering experience.
    • The hosting organisation, ADVIT, will provide language support and training for the volunteers.

    Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:

    This project is based in Chisinau, Moldova’s capital city. As this is an Erasmus+ project, volunteers will receive insurance, accommodation, food, local transportation and pocket money. Travel to and from Moldova will also be funded.

    Volunteer requirements:

    • Aged between 18 and 30 years old.
    • Currently residing in the United Kingdom.
    • Demonstrate the motivation to take part in Erasmus+ Volunteering and have an idea of what they want to achieve from their participation in this project.
    • Interested in communication, media and journalism, politics and themes such as freedom of information.
    • A good knowledge of the English language is an asset.
    • The working language is English, Russian or Romanian – the project has a particular focus on developing the volunteers’ language skills.
