    Call for volunteers to take part in an 12-month Erasmus+ Volunteering project at the Zavod Voluntariat in Ljubljana, Slovenia

    Zavod Voluntariat are looking for four young volunteers willing to (re)discover their own potential while working on a specific placement. Three volunteers will be working in Zavod Voluntariat’s office (see below) and one volunteer will work with organisation TiPovej! and Mladi Zmaji (learn more about this placement here). All four will work together on a project called “Itchy Feet? Learn about International Volunteering” within which volunteers will develop interactive presentations on international volunteering through lens of global education.

    About Zavod Voluntariat

    Zavod Voluntariat, a branch of the worldwide international organisation and peace movement Service Civil International (SCI), is a non-profit and non-governmental organization. Established in 1991, their aim is to promote social justice, sustainable development, international understanding and solidarity through voluntary service. Their main activities consist of organising: (national and international) seminars and training, short-term voluntary projects (work-camps, youth exchanges and initiatives) and long-term voluntary projects (Global Learning And Education Network and European Voluntary Service).

    As a leading Slovenian organisation in the area of the international volunteering, the team want to promote an Erasmus+ Volunteering project called “Itchy Feet? Learn About International Volunteering”. Mostly the project will involve the implementation of a series of promotional activities and opportunities in the field of international volunteering and non-formal learning, with an emphasis on opportunities for youth participation in Erasmus+ programmes. To strengthen their reach, they will also carry out promotional activities with a focus on smaller towns and rural areas in Slovenia. In addition, the SCI network is celebrating 100th anniversary in 2020, thus 2019 will be focus on preparing the activities for the anniversary.

    Therefore, this year they are looking for 3 Erasmus+ volunteers to join their office. Volunteers will bring an international dimension into the organisation and its projects. You will help in the office, with focus on promotional workshops in rural areas and continuing activities within the Club of Volunteers, started by previous international volunteers, and prepare activities for the SCI 100th anniversary.

    The main tasks of the volunteers are the following:

    Zavod Voluntariat are looking for three volunteers and each will have different assignments, which is why we ask you to specify for which placement you are applying and to focus on this specific placement in your motivation letter. All of the assignments will be dynamic and intertwine with one another. The first volunteer will be in charge of the coordination and implementation of promotional activities in rural areas and the coordination of Club of Volunteers and organising different workshops/events. The second volunteer will be in charge of graphic design for Voluntariat and its projects. The third volunteer will take on the role of the placement officer for SCI projects.

    1. Coordinator

    • Assist in the coordination and implementation of Club of Volunteers.
    • Activities and strategic volunteering programmes in rural areas.
    • Lead innovative promotional workshops in rural areas with local volunteers.
    • Help organise activities of Club of Volunteers with the help of other volunteers.

    2. Graphic Designer

    • Assist in designing promotional material for the project and Zavod Voluntariat.
    • Recording and designing promotional activities.
    • Recording stories of former international volunteers.
    • Carrying out activities within the project and the Club of volunteers.

    3. Placement Officer

    • Support in the management of incoming and outgoing SCI volunteers.
    • Organise and facilitate activities for work-camp organisers and management of their initiatives.
    • Assist in the preparation of volunteer records.
    • Agree on cooperation, implementation of activities within the project and the Club of Volunteers.

    Training during the project:

    • A warm welcome and orientation day(s) after arriving to Ljubljana.
    • Training on the topic of non-formal education, global education and international volunteering.
    • A challenging and fulfilling placement.
    • Lots of opportunities to join our activities and meet new people.
    • Slovene language course.
    • A mentor who will give you all the needed personal support.

    As an Erasmus+ volunteer you will also develop your own personal project. If you already have an idea on what this project could be, please let us know in the motivation letter. Keep in mind this is not a requirement, but it can be an added value to your application.

    Working hours and days:

    You will work with the Voluntariat team for about 35 hours per week. Working hours of Voluntariat are from Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, when the majority of the activities are carried out. As said, some of your activities will be carried out around Slovenia, and sometimes you will work in the evening and on weekends (due to realisation of certain activities within Club of Volunteers or training, seminars and evaluation), these working hours will be compensated by some hours off during the week.

    Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:

    You will have paid accommodation in a shared house with your own room. Travel expenses (flights etc. to join the project) are covered up to 290€ (it depends where are you coming from). You have also be covered by insurance and get a budget for food and pocket money. All stay and travel expenses are covered by the Erasmus+ program.

    Volunteer requirements:

    • Aged between 18 and 30 years old.
    • Currently residing in the United Kingdom.
    • Must have not already taken part in a long-term EVS/Erasmus+ volunteering project before.
    • Passionate to join a young and international team.
    • Be motivated to learn and share knowledge and skills.
    • Have good educational and social skills, to be able to work with several target groups.
    • Have good command of English.
    • Have good communication skills and motivation to cooperate with colleagues and with active volunteers.
    • Have an open mind and flexible attitude towards working hours, especially in busy periods.
    • Have a responsible attitude and take initiative towards your tasks.
    • Be able to work in a team.
    • Have good computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, internet).
    • Have administrative and organising skills.
    • Be able to live independently and to fill in your own free time.
