    Call for a volunteer to take part in an 7-month Erasmus+ Volunteering project at Cloughjordan Community Farm in Cloughjordan, Ireland

    Cloughjordan Community Farm (CCF), Ireland’s first CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), is searching for a volunteer to start in January 2019 for seven months.

    About Cloughjordan Community Farm

    Cloughjordan, home to Ireland’s only eco-village, is surrounded by 50 acres of beautiful land dedicated to woodland and active food production. The eco-village is home to approximately 55 households along with a hostel, a community farm, and a number of non-profit educational enterprises such as Cultivate and Sustainable Projects Ireland Ltd. It’s varied educational activities and it’s location within the eco-village provides a rich service and learning opportunity.

    The main tasks of the volunteers are the following:

    The volunteers’ main focus will be working on and learning about organic, biodynamic and sustainable farming and living in our community through hands-on work and learning in the polytunnels and field. The volunteers will be involved in activities supporting food production, promoting sustainable agriculture and rural development as well as activities associated with organising and promoting educational events.

    Training during the project:

    There will be On-Arrival and Mid-Way trainings provided by the Irish National Agency. There is some informal teaching with regard to setting up a market garden and soil and CSA farm management.

    Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:

    Accommodation is in a shared house in the eco-village with three other volunteers. All food is provided. Bikes are provided and there is a local train which runs twice daily between Dublin and Limerick.

    Volunteer requirements:

    • Aged between 18 and 30 years old.
    • Currently residing in the United Kingdom.
    • Must have not already taken part in a long-term European Voluntary Service/Erasmus+ volunteering project before.
    • Strong interest in the outdoors, in horticulture or permaculture, and some awareness on environmental issues.
    • Willing to carry out activities outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather and take part in repetitive tasks like weeding or sowing.
