    Call for volunteers to take part in an Erasmus+ Volunteering project at the Angelus Cancer Centre, Moldova

    Our partner, the Charity Foundation for Public Health “Angelus Moldova”, is a non-governmental, non-political, not-for-profit organisation based in Chișinău, and aims to support cancer patients and their families with palliative care services.

    About Angelus Moldova

    Moldova Hospice Angelus

    Angelus Moldova Charity Foundation for Public Health is an NGO aimed at creating a new system of socio-medical assistance for incurable patients with cancer in the advanced stages, as well as for their relatives. In 2001, Angelus Moldova also established the Hospice Angelus Service, a palliative care service at home, based on a holistic approach for patients with cancer in the terminal stage.


    Project details:

    Location: Chisinau, Moldova
    Duration: Flexible, for a minimum of 5 months and a maximum of 52 weeks
    Starting in: ASAP, but may be negotiable
    Program: Erasmus+ Volunteering

    The main tasks of the volunteers are the following:

    • Fundraising, event management and PR in support of Angelus Moldova’s direct services.
    • Assist the project coordinators in organising all kinds of events (training, seminars, conferences and round-tables).
    • Involvement in such activities brings multicultural exposure to the volunteers, as well as first-hand knowledge of all the organisational and logistic stages of a successful event.
    • Designing and implementing organised recreational activities for patients, e.g. activities involving arts or music.
    • Individual support to patients, e.g. reading, supervising pet therapy sessions.
    • Respite and support for family members, e.g. shopping or household tasks, child care or pet care.

    Training during the project:

    Training courses will be provided by Angelus Moldova’s supporting organisations throughout the duration of the volunteering experience. Language lessons will be provided by the host organisation, ADVIT.

    Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:

    This project is based in Moldova’s capital city of Chișinău. Volunteers’ accommodation, food, pocket money and transport will be provided by the host organisation, ADVIT.

    Volunteer requirements:

    • Aged between 18 and 30 years old [Given the sensitive theme of this project, more mature volunteers, preferably over 22, are encouraged to participate.]
    • Currently residing in the United Kingdom.
    • Personable and team oriented,
    • Highly motivated in working with people affected by life-threatening diseases.
    • Can demonstrate empathy.
    • Good communication skills and IT skills.
    • Be open-minded.
    • Good knowledge of the English language.
    • Interested in learning how to organise activities and events.
