Using the Projects Database
All SCI Member Organisations share a Projects Database. The number of projects listed falls to less than 50 in winter to over 1000 in late spring. When using the database it is best to limit the number of projects to view by setting a date range, continent, country or type of work (topic). Once your search is completed, you can print off details of individual projects.
All projects are numbered using country, organisation and topic codes. For example, Finland's anti-racist projects will be numbered FI-KVT 1.1; FI-KVT 1.2; FI.KVT 1.3 etc.
The topics are as follows:
- Anti-racism
- North/South Solidarity
- Peace and Disarmament
- Disability
- Children, teenagers and older people
- Environment
- Sexuality and Gender
- Socially Disadvantaged (homeless, poverty etc)
- Arts, culture and local history
- Ideological and spiritual
- Other
If you see (PVP) alongside the title of a project, it means that the project is recognised as a Pacifist Voluntary Project and will include aspects of pro-active peace education work. To read more about PVP projects and our international peace work see www.spaceforpeace.net.
Some of our partner organisations use additional categories to show the type of project work, so you may see the following on some project descriptions as well: ARCH (archaelogy); RENO (renovation); CONS (construction); AGRI (agriculture); KIDS (children); ELDE (elderly); MENT (mentally disabled); PHYS (physically disabled).
